Amedeo is an environmental design expert and architect with over a decade of extensive experience in the field of construction and architecture. His expertise spans internationally a diverse array of projects, including high-rise, commercial, cultural, science campuses, residential, historic buildings, rail and temporary structures.He currently works for Hilson Moran as an Associate Sustainability Consultant, where he actively contributes to sustainable design practices. Additionally, he shares his expertise and passion by teaching environmental design and technical studies at institutions like the Royal College of Arts, AA School of Architecture, and the University of Westminster.


Ece Cakir Aidan

Director, Cakir Aidan Studio, Turkey 

Ece earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the University of Miami, followed by a Master’s in Architecture with a focus on Sustainable and Environmental Design from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. She has gained in-depth practical and professional experience in Miami, London and Istanbul. She has worked on a diverse portfolio of high-profile international projects. She has also served as a part-time studio instructor for the “Computation-Based Design Studio” at Istanbul Bilgi University and co-founded The Circle, a research and production platform in Istanbul. Ece was selected as a finalist among many strong candidates in the category of ‘Best Architect in the 2019 WICE (European Women in Construction and Engineering) awards.


Francesco Contaldo

Senior Sustainability Consultant, Sustainable Design Expert, Project Architect, Milan Italy
For about 15 years now Arch. Francesco Emanuele Contaldo has been involved with topics of sustainability, sustainable design and climate change. He was vice coordinator of the Urban Regeneration think tank of Mayor of Milan and member of Cabina di Regia Benessere Italia, established by the Italian Prime Minister as the highest national board for sustainability policies, he is on the PLEF board of directors with responsibility for architecture, sustainability and urban regeneration.
Francesco has been collaborating, as project architect and sustainability specialist, with some of the Italian biggest design and consultancy firms, working at big residential, directional, educational, healthcare, commercial and sport buildings developing and delivering, among other things, sustainable design solutions and following sustainability certifications and pre-assessment, writing technical reports and delivering design solutions and strategies at various scale, including, among other, solar irradiation (on the building envelope), daylighting (D.F., SDA etc.), CFD, UTCI.
Along with collaborative work, he recently opened his own office, with which he personally oversaw all stages of design and implementation of restoration, interior design and urban regeneration projects, always pursuing an integrated sustainable approach.


Hector Altamirano-Medina

Professor, Bartlett, UCL

Dr Altamirano-medina is a Professor at the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources, Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering. He is an architect and interdisciplinary scientist with an interest in the health and wellbeing impact of the built environment and a wide-ranging experience in the indoor environment and operational performance of buildings, the development of mould and humidity conditions, in-situ monitoring, field surveys and experimental setup of buildings and its components. He significantly contributed to the establishment of the Healthy Infrastructure Research Group at the UCL Department of Civil and Geomatic Engineering and managed the AirPath: Working group on Outdoor Environments, Pathogens in Air and Human health. He has worked with MSc students in studies related to indoor and outdoor air pollution and infectious disease transmission in housing, from which papers have been published and presented in conferences and international meetings. Currently, Dr Altamirano-Medina is working in a number of moisture related research projects prepared in partnership with industry and public institutions and with the strong support of the UK Centre for Moisture in Buildings (UKCMB), where he serves as Academic Director.


Herman Calleja

Sustainability Lead at SOM London │ AA SED MArch/MSc Tutor

Herman joined SOM as Sustainability Lead in 2021. Prior to this, in 2012 he joined BDSP/ Chapman BDSP as a Sustainability and Environmental Design consultant where he led the Environmental scope on various projects in diverse sectors including residential, offices, education and mixed-use. He assisted Design Teams with regards to thermal modelling, daylighting, wind analysis, embodied carbon, form-finding, façade design, certification and production of planning documents. This work led to collaboration with Foster+Partners, RSH+P, Grafton Architects, ZHA, AHMM and other architects. Herman introduced parametric environmental design at the Architectural Association Sustainable Environmental Design MSc/MArch programme, where he still teaches and at Chapman BDSP where he was appointed as Head of Research and Innovation from 2018 till when he joined SOM. Herman  was part of the CIBSE Simulation Group 2018 prize winning team and was selected to deliver the RIBA Core CPD 2020 on Building Physics and Energy Efficient Strategies. Herman collaborated with various schools in the form of guest lecturer, jury, workshops or thesis collaborator. Some of the collaborations include the University of Westminster, University of Malta, FAUSP, University of Houston, IAAC and the American University in Dubai


Ignacio Borrego
PhD, Full Professor, Chair TU Berlin, Ignacio Borrego Architects

Dipl. Arch., Ph.D Ignacio Borrego was born in Madrid and graduated in 2000 at the School Architecture of Madrid receiving the Best Graduate Architect Prize in ETSAM‐UPM of 2000, and also achieved the first National Prize 2000 by the Ministry of Education of Spain.

He co-founded dosmasuno arquitectos in 2003 with Néstor Montenegro and Lina Toro and Ignacio Borrego Architects in 2014. He has won 36 national and international prizes, and several awards for completed buildings, and he has been co-director of Arquitectos, the official architectural magazine of the National Architects Association of Spain (Consejo Superior de Colegios de Arquitectos de España-CSCAE) since 2006 until 2012.In 2016 he is appointed Full Professor at Technische Universität Berlin, chair of Architekturdarstellung und Gestaltung (Architectural Representation and Design), and director of CoLab/Berlín, a research space in connection with CoLaboratorio, founded in Madrid in 2009 together with A.Ribot, J.G.Germán y D.G.Setién.


Manuel Pérez Romero

PhD, Chair, Center for Sustainable Cities, IE University

Manuel Pérez Romero has an interdisciplinary background as an architect, urban designer, entrepreneur and inventor. His interests focus on two different but complementary areas: co-evolutionary urbanism and lightweight sustainable structures.
Currently, Pérez Romero serves as the Chair of the Center for Sustainable Cities at IE University. He has extensive teaching experience at various institutions, including IE University, Alcalá de Henares School of Architecture, and Madrid School of Architecture. He has been the Academic Director of the Bachelor in Urban Studies. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Board Member of the International Practice Committee of the American Institute of Architects.Perez Romero is the co-founder of Phylem Structures, a pioneering R&D company in the field of timber structural systems. He is also founding member of nodo17 group, a Madrid based group of architects, urban designers and ecologists operating within the fields of urbanism, landscape, architecture, engineering, information and ecology, with more than 20 awards won in national and international competitions. His work has been published in journals and monographs, such as “nodo17 version 2.08” (Damdi Publishing Co, South Korea, 2009) and he is author of “Timetecture” (Diseño, 2017).


Rafael Herrera-Limones, PhD

Professor , University of Seville, SpainProfessor Rafael has a Doctorat of Architecture from the University of Seville – with International Mention – with the research title: “The sustainable warp as a tactic for architectural work”. He is the Principal Investigator-Responsible of the Research Group HUM-965 “TRANSHUMANCIES: habitat, health, heritage, technology and art”, of the Junta de Andalucía. He is also the director of the “Decathlon Solar Team of the University of Seville”: international, competitive and institutional research contract. He served as a Deputy Director/Vice Dean of Sustainable Habitat of the E.T.S.A. from the University of Seville (2016-2020). Also, he is a member of the Academic Commission of the “Doctoral Program in Architecture” of the U.S. (since 2020). He follows on Masters and PhD thesis in regional and international co-tutoring. Winner of numerous regional, national and international awards in the field of architecture, energy and sustainability. His research involvement has a regional, national and international outreach around architecture, comfort, and sustainable design. He has authored and co-authored a large list of publications in peer reviewed journals.


Rohit Garg

Principal at GRAS, India 

Rohit is an architect by profession, with 14 years of experience. He studied Masters in Sustainable Environmental Design (M Arch SED) from the prestigious Architectural Association, London. An experienced Senior Architect in sports, entertainment and convention exhibition venue projects, he has worked on various international projects in the UK, Australia, China, South East Asia, Middle East and India including marquee projects like the world’s largest cricket stadium – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with 1,10,000 seats and the new 123 acre IECC Pragati Maidan Masterplan redevelopment in New Delhi. He is also the design architect for the 75,000 seater International Cricket Stadium in Jaipur, India. Most recently, he is at the fore front of a world class performance and visual arts venue coming up in New Delhi.


Therezia Sloet tot Everlo 

Founder & Director, Studio 3A, Portugal Therezia is a registered Architect in both Portugal and the UK; and is part of the RIBA Europe committee. She has a M.Arch in sustainable Environmental design from the Architecture Association, AA, London, 2012. For more than nine years (2014) she headed her own practice working on a variety of projects between the UK, Portugal and Guatemala. Studio 3A, emphasizes a holistic approach to design. They start by studying local vernacular architecture, learning from ancestral construction methods and strategies unique to each geographic area. This knowledge is integrated into their projects, which are designed to harmonize with the environment, leveraging climate advantages. The firm collaborates with local craftsmen, integrating traditional techniques and knowledge into their work, creating a lasting heritage. Studio 3A also places great importance on materials, using them to evoke sensory experiences and ensure each material’s unique qualities are highlighted. Sustainability is a core value, guiding their use of modern technology to reduce carbon footprints and create balanced, sustainable structures. Their ultimate goal is to create buildings that seamlessly blend with their surroundings, embodying a deep connection with nature.
